Your Journey Starts Here: Steps to Salvation

Salvation is a life-changing journey with Jesus Christ, and at Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church, we want to walk with you every step of the way. It begins with accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior—recognizing your need for Him, repenting of sin, and trusting in His sacrifice on the cross (Romans 10:9-10). But salvation doesn’t stop there! We encourage you to connect with God through prayer, worship, and fellowship with other believers because faith grows stronger in community (Hebrews 10:24-25).

As you grow, we invite you to disciple—deepen your understanding of God’s Word and allow it to transform your life (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Then, engage in ministry, using your gifts to share the Gospel and build up the church (1 Peter 4:10). Finally, we are called to serve—both inside the church and in the world—reflecting Christ’s love through acts of compassion and justice (Matthew 5:16). At Abyssinia, we believe salvation is just the beginning; God has a purpose for your life, and we’re here to help you fulfill it!

    Surrender to Christ

    Your decision to follow Jesus is the most important choice you will ever make—one that transforms your life forever. By placing your faith in Him as your Lord and Savior, you begin a new, joyful, and eternal relationship with God.

    Jesus is the Son of God, the only way to salvation, and by trusting in Him, you receive forgiveness, purpose, and a life filled with His love. We celebrate this incredible step with you and are here to support you as you grow in your faith!

    At Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church, our mission is to lead people into a saving, life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ. We are committed to nurturing believers through discipleship, uplifting lives through the Word, sharing the Gospel with the lost, and serving our community in love.

    What Is Baptism?
    Baptism is a sacred act of obedience and a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ. It symbolizes the inward transformation God has done in your life—washing away sin, uniting you with Christ’s death and resurrection, and marking you as His own.

    When you are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, you step into the authority, grace, and protection of God. It is not just a ritual; it is your spiritual rebirth made visible—a testimony of your new life in Him.

    “Do I really need to attend the New Members Class?”
    Absolutely! We strongly Encourage every person to complete this vital step, in order to receive the Right Hand of Fellowship and become a full fledged member of Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church.

    At Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church, our New Members class will introduce you to the rich history, foundational beliefs and mission of our church family. This is your first step to christian commitment, spiritual growth and a stronger walk with Christ.

    Why Attend?

    Classes meet every Sunday at 9:00am and on Wednesdays at 6:00pm. Whether you’re a new believer, recommitting your faith, or a mature Christian, this class will equip and encourage you.

    At Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church, we believe every believer is called to live out their faith through active service. As the hands and feet of Christ, we are committed to:

    Faith Grows Better Together
    At Abyssinia, we believe God designed us to walk with others in Christian fellowship. Small groups are where Sunday worship becomes everyday discipleship – where we grow deeper in God’s Word and closer to one another.

    In our small groups, you’ll have opportunity to:

    • Strengthen your faith through regular Bible study and prayer
    • Build authentic relationships with believers who will support you
    • Celebrate victories and navigate challenges together
    • Encourage one another toward spiritual maturity

    Whether you’re just beginning your walk with Christ or have been following Him for years, there’s a place for you. Groups meet in-person and online during our Fall and Spring sessions.
